5 Top Tips for HLF Success

We all know that the cultural sector is being hammered in the current financial climate, and preparing a strong funding case is essential. The competition is really tough, so how do you make your development project stand out?

Having had 100% success rate with the bids I've worked on, these are my tips for writing an outstanding Heritage Lottery Fund bid:

  1. First of all, communicate a concise, compelling project vision (aim for one side of A4)
  2. Then focus on your unique sense of place or the significant aspects of your collection - really emphasise your distinctiveness.
  3. You will need to develop an interpretation plan that informs the creative response - this will ensure that the content is relevant and appealing.
  4. Please don't waffle! Carefully review your application - make every word count.
  5. Finally, do convey the sense of enthusiasm and passion you have for your project - make it an interesting read!

I am always happy to give advice, wherever you are in the development process - just drop me an email or give me a call.

"I feel confident that the client, and funding bodies, are being provided with a thoroughly researched interpretive design scheme which will stand scrutiny at every stage of delivery."
